The Food Chain
Notice: In order for lights to attract plankton,
they can not be competing with sunlight.
Therefore, fishing lights are only effective at night.
How to Use: Simply lower the light 2' to 3' below the surface off a Dock or
Boat and tie off the power-cord to a cleat or post. Plug into any 120VAC outlet
and watch the fish come to you! The use of a Photo-Cell Timer is recommended
to preserve bulb life. Lights will not attract fish during the daytime.

No Easier Dock Light to Use! Just hang it off the side of your Dock or Boat and Plug It In..!

There's no trick to attracting fish to your Dock or Boat. Once you put the
eventually, the larger game fish will discover the swarm of bait fish and start
feeding as well.
Tip: It is important for your lights to come on at dusk and run at a consistent
time every night so the fish know when feeding time is. Be patient, it may take
awhile for the fish to discover a new feeding ground. Once they find it, they
will be there every night to feed. If you've ever fed birds, you know it takes
time for the birds to find the feeder. But, once they find it...they are there
everyday to feed. Fish are no different...so turn on the lights, and be patient.
FISHING with artificial light has been around for many years. It doesn't take a $300 fishing
light to attract fish. In the early days the most common method was to hang a lantern over
the side of a boat. Some of the old timers thought the light attracted bugs (which they did),
and in return the fish surrounded the boat in hopes of getting a meal. There are still those
who believe the old theory of fewer bugs, less fish, but new technology has done much to
disprove that theory.
Submersible lights project light directly into the water which leaves little reflected light to
attract bugs on the surface. Why then are fishermen catching more fish using the
submersible lights than ever before? It's actually quite simple, light starts a natural food
chain reaction by attracting a concentration of small microscopic animals called plankton.
Bait fish such as shad and minnows are drawn to the light to feed on the plankton; and larger
game fish move in to feed on the bait fish. It's not uncommon to see bait fish stacked in
columns 15 feet thick under the lights, with game fish suspended directly below them. For
more information on this process see Light Attractors.
SET THE LIGHTS AT THE PROPER DEPTH! These lights are designed to be hung off the
side of a Boat, Dock, or Pier. There is no reason to put the lights deeper than 3' to 5' under
the surface. DO NOT lower the lights to the bottom or let them lay on the bottom.
FISH ALWAYS COME UP FOR THEIR FOOD... It's not natural for a bright light to be near
the bottom..and the fish will be skittish of it. And so again...the lights should be set just deep
enough to avoid boat traffic and outgoing tides.
USE A PHOTOCELL TIMER and have the light come on at dusk and set it to turn off 6 or 8
hours later. The fish will realize their feeding time is between those hours and will be there
every night to feed. Running the lights all night long or during the daytime does nothing but
shorten the bulb life and confuse the fish as to when feeding time is.

For Maximum Brightness, MAGNUM DOCK LIGHTS should be hung from the side of the Dock or Boat, or mounted using 1.25" schedule 40 PVC. The lights will fit snug inside most 1.25" PVC. NEVER LAY THE LIGHTS ON THE BOTTOM or they may overheat and be ruined! More Info The lights should be set as high off the bottom as possible, but deep enough to avoid boat traffic and low tide. If you have questions about using PVC to mount the lights, call us at 785-259-1343.
